We’re getting into great things this weekend, and we need your help!
This Saturday, Advanced IT welcome a group of applicants for the Minnesota Aspirations for Women in Computing Awards to the inaugural kick-off of the SPARCS program, sponsored by AdvancedIT MN & dedicated to extending support for budding women in computing beyond the awards process.
We at GITMSP are beyond excited to be a part of this program – after all, mentorship is one of our dearest causes – but we need your help!
We have a few remaining volunteer opportunities open, and we’d love for you to join us. If you’ve ever considered mentorship but haven’t known where to start (or worried you didn’t have the time) – here’s your opportunity to make a huge impact in only a few hours.
MentorMash/Speed Mentoring – 10:55 am (
3 2 open)
Join our Mentorship Director Casse Langford as she leads a group of local women-in-tech for a youth-focused speed mentorship session. We’ll spend about 10 minutes with each group of girls, answering questions about career, skill building, and our favorite things about what we do.
Who can help: any woman employed in tech fields in the Twin Cities – possible career paths include: hardware/ software, IT, project management, recruiting, education
Time commitment: 10:30am – 12:10pm (you’re welcome to stay for lunch!)
Jobs Panel – 9:55 am (1 open)
We’re also actively seeking a woman in computing to join our mid-morning jobs panel. You’ll join 3 other women in tech to share perspectives on your career paths & what opportunities there are for young women in tech.
Who can help: any woman employed in IT & computing fields in the Twin Cities
Time Commitment: 9:30 am – 11am (you’re welcome to stay for MentorMash & lunch if you’d like, too!)
Social Manager for the Day – all/part day (1-2 open)
We’ll all have our stories to share, but we’d love for you to lead us! We’d love a volunteer to join us for the day and listen, observe and share event highlights on Twitter & Facebook.
Who can help: college age or professional women in STEM with a handle on social media (see what we did there?)
Time commitment: a few hours or all-day (we’re flexible!)
All volunteers are welcome to arrive as early and stay as late as they please. If you’d like for us to include you for lunch, please let us know so we’re sure to have enough pizza for everyone!
